Publication Ethics
At Indigenous Southeast Asian and Ethnic Studies, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. We expect all authors, reviewers, and editors to adhere to ethical guidelines that ensure the integrity, transparency, and quality of the scholarly work published in our journal.
For Authors:
- Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original and free from plagiarism. Proper citation of sources and acknowledgment of contributions from others are mandatory.
- Authorship: Only individuals who have made a significant contribution to the research should be listed as authors. All co-authors should have approved the final version of the paper and agreed to its submission.
- Data Integrity: Authors are responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of the data presented in their work. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is strictly prohibited.
- Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their research.
For Reviewers:
- Confidentiality: Reviewers must treat the manuscripts they review as confidential documents and should not share them with others without the editor’s permission.
- Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with constructive feedback provided to improve the manuscript. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
- Disclosure: Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest that might bias their judgment and should recuse themselves from reviewing a manuscript if such conflicts exist.
For Editors:
- Decision-Making: Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the manuscript’s quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope. Decisions should be free from bias and not influenced by personal, financial, or political considerations.
- Fair Play: Editors should evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit, without regard to the authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
- Transparency: Editors must ensure that all aspects of the publication process are transparent and that any concerns regarding ethical misconduct are addressed promptly and fairly.
By upholding these ethical standards, Indigenous Southeast Asian and Ethnic Studies aims to contribute to the credibility and advancement of scholarly research in our field.
